Ομάδα Constructing Siesta και Κώστας Ρουσσάκης

Η εγκατάσταση και το εργαστήριο πραγματοποιήθηκαν στον κήπο του Green Park, στα πλαίσια της δράσης ενεργοποίησης του Green Park Café στο Πεδίον του Άρεως, 19-29 Ιουνίου του 2015.

Η κατασκευή είναι μετεγγραφή / απόγονος του γαλλικού επίπλου méridienne το οποίο είναι ένας καναπές με μια μόνο πλαϊνή πλευρά. Η λέξη προέρχεται από την λατινική λέξη “meridies” που σημαίνει μεσημέρι. Είναι δηλαδή ένας καναπές για τον μεσημεριανό ύπνο, την σιέστα.  Σε αυτήν την εκδοχή κατασκευάζεται ένα διπλό méridienne με παλέτες. Ο ένας καθήμενος / κοιμώμενος αντικρίζει τον άλλο διαγωνίως.  Για την κατασκευή χρησιμοποιήθηκαν 6 παλέτες 800mmx1200mmx120mm και δεματικά καλωδίων. Στο τέλος του εργαστηρίου παράχθηκε το manual ενός palait meridien προσκαλώντας σε μια εύκολη αναπαραγωγή του για την φιλοξενία του μεσημεριανού ύπνου σε ανοιχτό χώρο.

the installation and workshop took place in the garden of Green  in Pedion tou Areos area  in Athens, during the activation of the Green Park Café, 19-29 of June, 2015.

The construction was inspired by the french furniture ‘méridienne’ which is  a sofa with a single side brace. Its name derives from the Latin word ‘meridies’ which means ‘midday’. Thus, it is a sofa that someone could lay on for a midday nap, or in other words a  siesta. In this workshop a double méridienne is constructed with wooden pallets. One person faces the other diagonally. 6 pallets [800mmx1200mmx120mm] and wire bindings were used for the construction. The workshop also included the creation of a manual for the palait meridien in order to celebrate its easy ‘reproduction’ and explore the possibility of a midday nap in open space.
